We have started working on a brand new version of WS4LSQL. Features: * WS-I Basic Profile compliance * Doc/literal bindings * Search service enhancements, such as searches for field names, advanced ordering parameters, etc. * New service: TenNewestLinks, returns newest links in database or selected categories * New service: SubmitLink, a secure web service for adding info to LSQL. We are looking at using WS-Security. * Overall code redesign based on performance, security and developer-friendlyness. A number of people, from all over the world, are involved, in various ways, some without even knowing it ;-) The coding work has begun. Dat in Vietnam is our developer. My agency has contracted him for the job. We will release all source code to the community. We are willing to make all code "real" open source, but might also try and convince GT to incorporate it in the LSQL product itself. So far, Alex (GT CEO) has promised to review the work. The main reference implementation of WS4LSQL is called WS4RP, which exposes the Danish e- government interoperability framework, the so-called Reference Profile, as a web service. Tommy has developed some .Net and Java clients for WS4RP, and I have asked him to write up a quick how-to for building clients with standard tools in these environments. I'll ask Tommy if it's Ok to "convert" the tutorial to WS4LSQL. Dat and I will also work on some Perl and php clients. Time-line: Don't expect any releases for at least a couple of weeks. But do expect to see something over the summer, and do stick around and join us. The WS4RP web service is open and running, at least sort of. It uses rpc-encoded style, so .Net and Java might complain. Tommy can tell you more. The old WS4LSQL plugin is available for LSQLers who want to get started. The new plugin will work similar (just better).
